Ms. Mary Powell:
I am currently applying for the Master's in Rehabilitation Counseling at A&T for Spring 2012. What do I need to do after being accepted in order to receive funding from your agency to continue my education. I will be a CSAC pursuing my Master's in Rehabilitation Counseling. Thank you.

Hi Carol:
Yes, I agree and we have in the past been pleased to support many fine students who have gone on to become CSACs. We are continuing to seek additional funds, indeed, I was looking a bill currently introduced in the General Assembly that would establish a forgiveable loan program for students studying in an area that our state needs professionals. It appears to be directed primarily at nurses, but it would be an interesting concept for our field.

Ms. Young:
CSACs who are working on masters degrees are a priority for our program. At this time, when you are approved for admission, you will be eligible for nomination by a faculty member who is teaching the substance abuse curriculum. We are however, seeking addition funds to expand our programming. Please visit this website from time to time to see if new financing opportunities emerge.

Hi Ms. Anneka:
Please view the new post for March 2011. We are currently waiting to learn about the availability of funds for the future. We do anticipate that all candidates will be selected by faculty in the North Carolina masters degree programs listed on this page. Thank you for your interest.

I would like to go to graduate school to receive my masters in addiction Counseling to receive my LCAS. I already have a bachelors degree and have my certification as a CSAC. I applied at A&T. I will hopefully be accepted in the Spring 2012. What do I need to do?

I am happy to hear you are continuing to support students wishing to become licensed addiction specialists with the PACT scholarship funds. I hope that more funds will become available in the future so that you will be able to resume support of students seeking professional certification (CSAC) as well through programs like those offered at the Community Colleges.

There are actually seven universities with programs in substance abuse with nine programs - At ECU the NCSAPPB has approved curriculum at in both Social Work and Rehab Studies. At UNC-W there are programs in Psychology and Social Work, but currently only the Psychology program is approved for Criteria C. Thanks for your good question.
